Meet the Team -
Manis Aloha
Manis acquired property on the Big Island in 1992, and moved here with a vision to create a sustainable community that followed permaculture practices. After many years of hard work by people in our greater community and work traders from around the world, a permaculture oasis called "Pangaia" was born. Over the years, hundreds of fruit trees were put in the ground. Some 50 varieties of tropical fruits were producing in abundance by the early 2000's. In order to support the rising costs of keeping up the farm, Manis decided to begin distributing more exotic foods from around the world. He wanted to work with small farms who were committed to organic and sustainable farming practices similar to his farm. He developed relationships with the early leaders in health food movement who shared his vision and "Pangaia Pantree" was born. He began distributing ethically sourced superfood products from small organic farms in Central and South America. Manis's passion was planting, farming, overseeing the work-traders and creating a business that could support his farm community. He understands the hard work that goes into running an organic farm and this is why he has been so committed to only working with companies who support farmers through fair pricing.

We have been a part of the Organic Raw Food Movement since 2001, and have been thriving on a plant based diet since then. Having overcome many serious health challenges we have a deep understanding of how important it is to consume only the highest vibrational foods to nourish our bodies. It's been our passion to share our love of healthy food with our greater community. We feel extremely fortunate to have had the opportunity to partner with Pangaia Pantree owner and founder Manis Aloha.
What happened to the land "Pangaia" and community?
The hundreds of fruit trees still feed people today, and the land formerly known as "Pangaia" continues to be one of the most abundant properties in Puna. The land was taken over by new stewards in 2010 who enjoyed the fruits of labor, love and sweat that so many of us were a part of. In 2022, the land changed ownership again. The "Pangaia" community was ever-changing and had members and visitors from across the world. All were brought together by the simple desire to learn how to live closer to our Mother Earth, and live a healthier more sustainable lifestyle. Some members still live in the area, while most others live in distant parts of the world.

Pangaia Pantree LLC now operates as Vibrant Superfoods under the direction of Manis. We continue to be provide our customers with ethically sourced foods from around the world.
